Right around the time "Shut Us Down" was being re-discovered, a fellow named John Payne (who was the original drummer in The Orphans before Andrew) found me on Facebook, and wrote to say that he found a demo tape we had recorded on a 4-track back in 1994. I had no idea such a tape even existed. He now lives in Brooklyn, plays in a band called The Tracys, and was writing to ask if they could do a version of the first Orphans song ever written, "Riot Act" - a crude version of which appeared on the demo. Of course I said yes, and their recorded version of it is pretty awesome.

Mischief Brew played a show in Brooklyn in January 2016 - John came to the show (I hadn't seen him since '95) and handed me the master tape, which was like finding a photo album that you thought you had lost. Most of it was pretty sloppy... but "Kill Your Parents" stood out in that we actually kept some semblance of rhythm. It was originally a song by Swill Reality, which was the first band I was in that actually recorded a demo and played one show...getting the plug pulled on us after four songs. SR became Generic America, which became The Orphans. I still think "Swill Reality" might be my favorite band name of any band I've ever been in. Well, maybe besides Mohawktown. But I digress...

Recorded in a basement somewhere in West Chester, PA. This was the original Orphans lineup of myself, Geoff (who went on to play bass in The Virus), John, and a kid named Jamie who played guitar with a vibrator, although he is sadly absent from this particular song.
