Bang-Up Policework
02:38
|
|||
You’re really doin’ some bang-up policework
You ripped the whole damn garden out
You got the rats out of your corn
And let the vampires in your house
You got a bug for son and daughter
To always know the time and place
And it don’t seem all that crazy
Just the way the world is run today
You say it's just the way the world is run today
And it don’t seem all that strange
You’re really doin’ some bang-up policework
You’re gonna sweep up all the mess
All the streets look good on camera
Citizens under arrest
You’re watchin’ too much television
You’re waitin’ for the lights to change
Let ‘em search, serve ‘em coffee
Just the way the world is run today
You say it's just the way the world is run today
And it don’t seem all that strange
You’re really doin’ some bang-up policework
Ever think about becoming a cop?
Bang bang, shoot ‘em up
It’s giving them an easy job
Another chapter in dominion
Another ripped out history page
A job ain’t hard if you do it for them
Half the battle won for them today
When you say: it’s just the way the world is run today
And it don’t seem all that strange
Ever think about becoming a cop?

On Freedom (A Carol)
01:51
|

The state is just a baby spoiled with lollipops and bubblegum
And it will never give you some unless you take it away
The state is just a royal brat who wants you to give, but won’t give back
Builds a fortress in the hills and never comes to play
You toil to send some water up, he sends you down with drops
His bully thugs will pound you down and spin you like a top
A button war, a color war, he’s captured all the flags
But only we can cry aloud: olly-olly-oxen-free!
The president’s a motley mix of ruling parties’ politics
A trickster in a two-faced mask who entertains us all
The company will lend a hand, pull his strings, make him dance
Strike the bell! Time to stand, for pyramids to fall
So cast your ballot in the box like money down the aisle
The bankers and the barons have been the killers all the while
An oil war, a holy war, it’s just a different flag
I’d love to see the game end with an olly-olly-oxen-free!

Catch Fire
04:48
|
|||
Down at the station
Impatiently waiting
To be thrown in a cage
Hungry and naked
Bleeding and nameless
Broken piece of a chain
Don’t know what I’m in for
But I’ll show you disorder
Call a cop by his name
Hey you
Watch me catch fire
Well they gave you a number
With hundreds of others
Then they came from behind
They called out no warning
And sprayed you with poison
And the gas made you blind
Packed into boxes
Shipped to a dungeon
To a laugh and a cry
Hey you
Watch me catch fire
Hey, don’t believe the news tonight
It ain’t a party for your rights
Cause I can see the hotel lights
Their silhouettes are singing:
“Fall down to the rising of wine.”
Now when they come to party
They wall up the city
And they board up the stores
They come in on horses
And crack up your faces
Then give the report
With jails over-spillin’,
You’re gonna spend millions
Fighting this war
Hey you
Watch me catch fire
Fall down to the rising of wine.

Mischief Brew Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Emerging from the undead ashes of PA punk troupe The Orphans, Mischief Brew started with a scratchy demo tape in 2000 and has since spread the good word of anarchy, hilarity, and rebellion across state lines and even the Atlantic Ocean a few times. We've managed to exist for over 13 years in one form or another by kissing nobody's ass and doing everything ourselves, for the most part. No rules! ... more
