Droote Classic Mischief Brew. Great folk punk with the emphasis on folk. This is a more softer release than usual, but still really good. I know it is a cover, but I don't understand why Dirty Overhauls isn't on the LP this single is supposed to promote. Favorite track: Dirty Overhauls.

We sat on the Bulb rocks With plum wine and we watched The fog roll and swallow the bridge on the bay I thought, “I could live here,” But I’m still in high gear And sweating and freezing 3,000 away O Pennsyltucky! Your three mile islands The coal fires buckle the miners’ highways I love just to leave you But it’s good to see you And old Filthadelph Hostile City, PA Where we all come from Most died of the Black Lung Another, a browbeater, boxer, and saint When he finally got caught, The cops made a few calls They opened his cell Never fought him again In O Pennsyltucky! Your three mile islands The coal fires buckle the miners’ highways I love just to leave you But it’s good to see you And old Filthadelph Hostile City, PA Wake me when Steel City’s roadwork signs Shine in my face Whew, now I’m safe Was that a peepshow With drive-thru windows? The gun show’s got carousels and funnel cakes It says “Church” in neon And asks me what’s beyond If I had to guess, I’d say more of the same In O’ Pennsyltucky! Your three mile islands The coal fires buckle the miners’ highways I love just to leave you But it’s good to see you And old Filthadelph Hostile City, PA O Pennsyltucky… how your coal fires rumble I love just to leave you But it’s good to see you And old Filthadelph Hostile City, PA

Are you tortured by that dial? Talkin’ radios at 5 Wishin’ you could reach inside and dunk the clown Hear the callers call and say They’re the real Americay As they’re diggin’ holes and loadin’ up on rounds But each time the good guys win I make sure I’m tunin’ in And I’m grinnin’ as they whine and twist and shout Hear ‘em squirmin’ in their seats Know they’re turnin’ in their sleep See ‘em break and run when they all hit the ground They hit the ground, they hit the ground See ‘em break and run when they all hit the ground Every time those bells a’ring A couple demons lose their wings See ‘em break and run when they all hit the ground I know it seems we’re always stuck Tires spinnin’ in the mud But I swear: we move along, not stick around Change ain’t always comin’ soon One step fro but two steps to And it’s worth the wait to see ‘em hit the ground They hit the ground, they hit the ground Said it’s worth the wait to see ‘em hit the ground I wanna hear ‘em go kerplunk Scramblin’ for their bibles, guns Said it’s worth the wait to see ‘em hit the ground They set traps at every turn Set up straw men just to burn But I love to hear that sweet exquisite sound Of the cry when put to bed Of the “Bang! You’re dead!” Of the bellyachin’ as they hit the ground They hit the ground, oh what a sound In the real Americay, we are the ground So let’s watch their heads explode Liberty, justice overload More to come, as one by one, they hit the ground

Well, the guns of war have roared And the bombs and shells have fallen The war clouds, they rambled as they roared I was a soldier in that fight And I fought until we won My uniform is my dirty overhauls This piece of land that I stand on is my battlefield and home My plough and my hoe is my gun Clothes don't make no difference at all We are workers, fighters all Marching in our dirty overhauls Well, I give you my sweat And I give you my blood I give you your bread and your wine Before I be any man's slave, I'll be rotting down in my grave Lay me down in my dirty overhauls It seems so onerous to me, this blatant thievery Stretchin' out its wicked, crooked hand Well, we're settled here to stay And we'll stick here all our days Marching in our dirty overhauls

about

An early single from Mischief Brew's next full-length LP, to be released in 2015! "O, Pennsyltucky!" is a love song to our fair state of PA, but like all good love songs, there's some darkness in there. Referencing places like the near-ghost-town of Centralia, PA and the Three Mile Island plant, the song pays tribute to the very weird state we live in, and two of our favorite cities on both sides. While "O, Pennsyltucky!" will appear on the next LP, "This Is Not For Children," there are two B-sides that are exclusive to this release. "We Are The Ground" (a song about the tragic death of Ann Coulter, heh heh) and "Dirty Overhauls," a kinda-Woody Guthrie cover, rearranged by Erik Petersen and Chris Neumann (2.5 Children Inc.), and put back together.

about

Mischief Brew Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Emerging from the undead ashes of PA punk troupe The Orphans, Mischief Brew started with a scratchy demo tape in 2000 and has since spread the good word of anarchy, hilarity, and rebellion across state lines and even the Atlantic Ocean a few times. We've managed to exist for over 13 years in one form or another by kissing nobody's ass and doing everything ourselves, for the most part. No rules! ... more
